Judy McCaig studied jewellery, silversmithing and photography at DJCAD in Dundee, Scotland, before realising a three-year Master's Degree in jewellery at The Royal College of Art in London. She practised printmaking and painting for several years after leaving college, then established her workshop in London in 1987. Since 1991 has lived and worked in Barcelona. From 2001 to the present day, she has taught at the Massana School of Art, Taller Perill Workshops in Barcelona and schools and workshops in the UK and abroad. Her work often features abstract landscapes which draw on observations from her extensive travels and studies of ancient and modern cultures. Her journeys have taken her to many European countries and also further afield to faraway locations: Indonesia, Egypt, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, China, the United States and Canada.
